NASFT Product Review: Happy Goat Caramels
Categories: Food, Product Reviews
I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, but one of the things that makes me really happy is finding a great tasting product made by a socially responsible, locally owned, company.
Happy Goat meets all my requirements.
Founded two years ago by Michael Winnike, and based in San Francisco, Happy Goat caramels are made by hand in small batches using traditional copper pots.
Michael uses all-natural grade ‘A,’ Kosher certified milk that comes from free-range goats raised on small California farms. These eco-friendly farms reject the use of insecticides, pesticides, antibiotics and growth hormones.
Never separated from their birth mothers, Happy Goats roam freely while eating their natural food stuffs including grass, clover and alfalfa. The chewy little treats produced from these happy goat’s milk taste a wee bit tangy — yet still sweet — and ever so slightly salty.

In addition to tasting great, there is evidence that goat milk is a healthy choice. It’s lower in fat than cow milk and contains less lactose — which makes it easier to digest. People who are allergic to cow milk may more easily tolerate goat milk.
Happy Goat products also contain organic sugar and real Madagascar bourbon vanilla bean seeds.
Michael’s enthusiasm and pride in his product is contagious — and he promises an expanded product line in the very near future!
If you’re located outside the San Francisco Bay Area, Happy Goat’s products can be ordered online.
